We’ve already shown how you can jailbreak your iOS 5.1.1 device using Absinthe 2.0 however there are other tools out there to achieve the same thing. Today we’re going to take a look at Sn0wBreeze, a Windows only jailbreaking application.
There are loads of top lists you can thumb through for things you can install upon your jailbroken phone but most of them are invariably made up of some pretty huge applications which fundamentally change the structure of your devices. We felt it was high time someone wrote about some of the smaller and perhaps simpler apps that can make a big difference to your device without fundamentally changing it whilst including a few firm favourites.
I decided to take a holiday to France with my family and the day we left I was browsing Twitter in the ferry terminal when, to my delight, I saw a tweet by @pod2g saying he’d finally managed to get the untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak completed. Not long after Absinthe 2.0 became available to download. This is fabulous news and the toolset has already been used in excess of a million times to jailbreak the various iOS devices. Permission is granted for you to carry out a little happy dance before sitting down and carrying out the merry business of carrying out an untethered jailbreak of your cherished device using the Absinthe tool on Mac / Windows or Linux.
Apple released iOS 5.1.1 on the 7th May. As always, iTunes tends to get a tempramental when it comes to grabbing firmware updates therefore you may well find it easier to download directly from Apple’s servers using the listed links.
Apple has released iTunes 10.6. Suitable for both Mac and Windows, safe for jailbreakers, you should download and update.
Apple released iOS 5.1 during their March keynote speech; a keynote where we also saw the 3rd generations of the iPad and AppleTV rolled out.
