Apple released iOS 5.1 during their March keynote speech; a keynote where we also saw the 3rd generations of the iPad and AppleTV rolled out. As always, iTunes tends to get a little bit tempramental when it comes to grabbing firmware updates therefore you may well find it easier to download directly from Apple’s servers.

Apple TV also gets iOS 4.2 firmware update

We were expecting the second generation Apple TV platform to get iOS 4.1 today, with all other iDevices getting iOS 4.2; however we were quite surprised when we found that Apple TV is also getting iOS 4.2.x
