So you’ve moved your iTunes library location and now most of your films don’t work; iTunes is prompting you to locate the missing files? I feel your pain, I’ve been there, don’t worry though there’s a simple fix:

  • Make sure you’ve got a backup of your files (in case you do one of these steps incorrectly)
  • Select all of your films within iTunes, delete them all, but make sure you don’t move the files to the trash. You should select “Keep copy” when prompted
  • Within iTunes preferences select the advanced option, then untick “Copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library
  • Re-import the files by selecting them and dragging them onto iTunes* from your iTunes file store
  • Within iTunes preferences select the advanced option, then re-tick “Copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library

*iTunes keeps films under a folder called “Movies” wherever it is you keep your iTunes library

That’s it – all done. Enjoy!
