Apple released iOS 5.1.1 on the 7th May. As always, iTunes tends to get a tempramental when it comes to grabbing firmware updates therefore you may well find it easier to download directly from Apple’s servers using the below links:
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 4 (GSM)
- iPhone 4 (CDMA)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad 3 WiFi
- iPad 3 GSM
- iPad 3 CDMA
- iPad 2 WiFi
- iPad 2 GSM
- iPad 2 CDMA
- iPad
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
If you are already running iOS 5.x on your device then you should be able to enjoy using the OTA (Over The Air) updates. To make use of this browse to Settings > General > Software Update on your iOS device.
Here’s the official change log:
- Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
- Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
- Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
- Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
- Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase
Just a brief note for any American based DCMA lawyers – these are links directly to Apple and not a reproduction of the content on a different download server so please don’t waste your time or mine sending through DCMA notices. This site is UK based any way so US law has no relevance.
